Statement from the The Civic Arts Centre & Theatre Management Team
We are now planning for reopening. Unfortunately we don't have a date yet for our first events or activities but we are working on them.
It is likely that some of our sessions and clubs will start again in September. We're currently working on new procedures for social distancing and cleaning so we can't say just at the moment which sessions will be running, we'll make an announcement soon.
When we closed we moved all our theatre events to the Autumn but it is likely that many of them will get moved again to dates in Spring. In some cases this is beyond our control as artistes are not touring at the moment but rest assured, we're looking for new dates and we'll keep you informed. If you have tickets for a show they will automatically transfer to new dates or you can request a full refund if you can't make it to the new date.
We are now fund raising for our reopening and we're looking for ideas. We have some 'football' type cards on the go on Facebook - buy a square and you could win £15, or even up to £40 on some. If you work in a pub, restaurant, organisation or group and you are able to sell a whole card for us that would be appreciated, email us on for details.
We have a GoFundMe page - click here - any donations made via this will go towards supporting the local freelance economy as we start to reopen. Freelancers have been hit particularly hard during these last four months and so we will be launching mini-commissions which will help them.
We also have a general fundraising drive. If anyone would like to make a donation to the Civic Arts Centre to enable us to reopen in the future you can donate via www.paypal.me/CivicArts All funds raised through this will simply help us get the building back up and running again.
Thank you everyone for your supportive messages over the last few months. We can't deny it's been difficult being closed but we are now confident that we can reopen and we're working on doing it as soon as is possible.
