Hyndburn Gets Hangry
Healthier Place, Healthier Future (HPHF) is one of five Childhood Obesity Trailblazer programmes funded by the Department of Health and Social Care and delivered by the Local Government Association. Food Active were commissioned by Pennine Lancashire Consortium of Local Authorities to support the intense 12-week discovery phase in early 2019 which saw 13 local authorities working to make the final five. Since October 2019 Food Active have been supporting Pennine Lancashire’s Healthier Place Healthier Future programme working closely with colleagues across the footprint. The Pennine Lancashire consortium comprises 7 local authorities, including one unitary, one upper tier and five district councils.
We at the Civic are spearheading the Hyndburn strand of this project and will soon be recruiting young people between the ages of 13 to 17 to work with us. We are hoping to create something like a flash mob or dance battle based on healthy living which we can take around to public spaces or schools.
All of the young people working on this project will work towards their Bronze Arts Award.
If you are between those ages and are currently aware or interested in all the issues surrounding food poverty and healthy eating please keep your eye on this page for when we begin to recruit participants.
